With over 15 years of experience, Selva has coached 20+ athletes to sub-3-hour marathon finishes and coached 15+ 2:30 to 2:09 men’s marathoners, 2:51 to 2:38 women’s marathoners and 15-14 mins 5km runners. Selva is NCCP Club Coach trained.
In 2020, Selva founded Northern Endurance Project, a high-performance running team focused on pushing boundaries and achieving excellence. Selva was also formerly a crucial part of the coaching staff for the Sheridan Bruins Cross Country Team, where he has played a key role in the team’s impressive performances in the OCAA circuit, with their best runner getting Gold in the Provincial Championships and Bronze in the National Championships.
Coach Selva takes a personalized approach to coaching, focusing on tailored training and long-term development specific to the athlete. With expertise in altitude training, lactate testing, and high-performance principles, he brings a depth of knowledge and a passion for the sport that has earned him respect throughout the running community.

Tsegaye Bekele Dissasa brings over 25 years of experience in distance running to the Northern Endurance Project. A former and current elite marathoner from Ethiopia with a personal best of 2:13, he has trained and competed among some of the world’s best endurance athletes, gaining invaluable insight into high-performance training and athlete development. Tsegaye is NCCP Club Coach trained.
Now based in Toronto, Coach Tsegaye applies that experience to coaching athletes across all levels, from junior development to national-calibre marathoners. His approach combines the proven training systems of East Africa with modern sports science, emphasizing consistency, technical efficiency, and long-term progression.
Tsegaye’s deep understanding of the sport and commitment to athlete growth have made him a respected mentor within Canada’s distance running community and an integral part of the Northern Endurance Project coaching team.

Matthew Lozano
Matt brings a wealth of experience as a competitive middle- and long-distance runner with personal bests including 1:54 in the 800m, 3:53 in the 1500m, 8:28 in the 3000m, and 14:39 in the 5000m. He has competed at national championships, international relays, and high-profile road races, including the Canadian 5km Championships and the TCS Toronto Waterfront Half Marathon, finishing in 1:09.
Matt has also trained under some of Canada’s top coaches, gaining expertise in elite training methodologies, periodization, and performance optimization. He has applied this knowledge as a coach himself, guiding athletes of all levels, creating training plans, and helping them achieve measurable improvements.
As Head Coach for Northern Endurance Project’s virtual programs, Matt designs structured hands on training plans, provides personalized guidance, and fosters a supportive, motivating environment. His focus is on building speed, endurance, and strategic race execution while helping every runner reach their personal goals.
